On March 22, 2024, I was invited at Radio France Culture’s program “Le Meilleur des Mondes” to discuss the recent adoption of the European directive on platform work.
The agreement, approved by the European Union on Monday, March 11, 2024, aims to protect workers in the digital platform sector. While some view this directive as a major social advancement, will it truly help lift these workers out of the gig economy and provide them with sustainable working conditions?
Union leader Brahim Ben Ali and sociologist Sophie Bernard were invited to participate in a panel discussion focusing on the complex lives and working conditions of drivers on ride-sharing platforms, couriers on delivery apps, social media content moderators, and AI data annotators.
