The DiPLab team’s work is highlighted in an exposé by Radio France Inter about the impact of AI on work and employment.
I was interviewed in my capacity as co-founder of the research program DiPLab’s and principal investigator of the ANR-funded HuSh project. I aimed to provide a scholarly perspective on the behind-the-scenes of AI algorithms. I especially focused on the existence of “click farms” in Madagascar, where individuals in precarious conditions spend their days and nights training AI, highlighting the ethical concerns surrounding this practice.
The exposé challenges the narrative of AI liberating time and creating abundance, drawing parallels with historical promises that failed to materialize.
